The Marriage Shift - a renaissance for marriage.

I was reading an article this morning in my weekly Tuesday Grazia fix (aided by my morning Costa coffee) I thought I’d share it with you as it’s wedding related.
Megan Lloyd Davies writes, that 20 somethings are now desperate to head up the aisle before they reach 30. She investigates, what’s the sudden rush?
A brief synopsis of her article revealed that in a recent marriage and wedding survey of 2000 women across their twenties, most felt that the ideal age to wed was 26. More interestingly, the survey found that younger women were spearheading the return to traditional values.
Marriage reflects society and because society has changed, marriage has as well. Younger women feel that if they have a relationship that’s equal, that will not change if they get married. In fact she goes on to write that marriage has undergone such a makeover that it’s now seen as an achievement to rank alongside a career and children. Young women see finding someone they want to commit to as an accolade.
The article concludes that as women bought up in a more equal society seek the security of marriage with men who share their values, more and more women will be saying I Do, rather than, lets live together.
It will be interesting to see how this is reflected in the brides that book me for their weddings. I was thinking the other day how my brides seem to be looking younger.... maybe its their face creams....or maybe…. its me getting older??

Watch this space, new website and blog, launching soon

As my business has evolved, so too have my ideas and branding. I felt it was time to update my website and inject a bit of my personality into it.  So I'm very excited to say that I have a new website/blog all rolled into one. I was fed up living in parallel worlds, always having to update my portfolio and website with new and fresh images and then repeat myself on the blog so now you'll be able to view everything in one place, making life so much more pleasant for me and for you! My website will be fresh and exciting, keeping you up to date with all my recent work and weddings so you can see what I do as it happens.
This current blog will still exist, yet won't be updated any more. There will be a link to click on, if you find yourself back here by mistake.
My new site has much larger images, rather than the tiny ones on here and you'll be able to access your photos and purchase them without having to leave my website. Hurrah. My portfolio will be available to view and you'll be able to leave your feedback and comments about my postings. I love hearing from you, so please don't be shy, but do be nice though as I'm not keen on grumpy comments : )
If your photos are on Smug Mug currently I'm going to leave them on there for now but will be slowly transferring them across to the "Your Photo's" section on my new site. They will still be password protected, so please don't worry.
Hopefully as clients you won't notice any changes or downtime of my current site and my new site should be popping up before your very eyes some point very soon.
Keep checking back to www.zoecollyerphotography.co.uk for the new site unveiling.

Family Shoot - Lucy and Ed

After much umming and arring, we decicded to take a risk with the weather and head off for Lucy and Ed's family shoot at Winkworth Arboretum today. It turned out a risk well paid off as the sun shone and it was lovely and warm. All the gorgeous spring flowers were out, including the bluebells and my favourite, the magnolia. They made a fabulous backdrop for some of the images.

Both boys were incredibly well behaved and got quite into being photographed. Here are some of the images from the shoot and I'm off to edit the rest.

A Brighton Wedding Celebration

Sharon and Tom married at Christmas in Sri Lanka, it was a quiet and private affair. Tom is a bashful groom, so it suited them perfectly.
Sharon and Tom divide their time between their homes in London and Brighton, so Brighton was the perfect venue for their wedding celebration and party. Hotel Du Vin was the setting on a bright and sunny April evening. Sharon is a make up artist with lots of friends in photography, TV and make up, therefore a glamourous evening entailed.

Here are some images from their celebration. (there's even one of me, courtesy of Gary Houlder, a friend  and fashion photographer).

A Wedding in Reading.

Yesterday Charlotte and Nigel tied the knot at Reading Town Hall, followed by a reception at The Warwick. They even had time for a quick stop at the ice cream van, for a 99 with a flake! We had such an amazing day and were so lucky with the sunshine.

Charlotte and Nigel, are off to Thailand on Tuesday for their honeymoon. Lucky things!

Heres a little taster of their day.

Anusha and Pete engagement shoot

Today was spent in London at various locations for Anusha and Pete's wedding in August.
Whilst driving to the reception venue near the Kings Road, we happened upon this fantastic yogurt shop called SNOG. It was too good an opportunity to miss. My camera, Pete and Anusha jumped out of the car (asking the shop owners permission first, of course) and took a few snaps.

As Pete and Anusha live close to Battersea Park, and this is somewhere they often go for a stroll together, it was an obvious choice for their engagement shoot. Here they are....enjoy!

A very special Mothers Day

I was photographing Anna and Darren today with their impending new arrival.
Anna and Darren live a couple of doors down from us and they have two boys. They are expecting a girl in about 3 weeks, so much pinkness will invade their currently blue house.
Both Reuben and Henry are very excited about having a sister which you can see from these pictures.
These are a taster (more to come) with a little bit of Orange fun thrown in too!
